Village Aid go back to school

Brimington Manor Nursery and Infant School near Chesterfield kicked off its Africa week in style with a visit from Village Aid volunteer Sue Walker. This is the first time that Village Aid has had the opportunity to engage with such young children.
During the morning visit, pupils were introduced to the daily life of a child living in a rural West African village using pictures, artifacts, costumes and storytelling. African village chores were acted out - fetching water, washing clothes, collecting sticks, watching out for snakes in the grass and swatting mosquitoes!
The school donated a generous £50 to the work of Village Aid collected during an African dress-up-day at the end of last week. School staff commented that the visit had been “a great success, thoroughly enjoyable and has provided an excellent start to our themed Africa week”.
Village Aid run a theatre-in-education initiative aimed at key stage 2 children called Growing Global. Visit the Growing Global website to find out more and book a visit by contacting them on 01629 888232 or via email on info@growingglobal.org
